The Secret Identity Of Batman - 863 Words
I Can Breathe When you hear the name Bruce Wayne whom do you think of? If you have a background in comic books, then you probably know that Bruce Wayne is the secret identity of Batman. At least, that is the first thing that comes to our minds when we hear this name. The Bruce Wayne that I think of grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania, one of the poorest cities in the nation. At sixteen years old he was arrested and convicted for selling drugs, despite the prosecutorsââ¬â¢ inability to prove that he was in possession of drugs, with intent to sell, during the time of his arrest. Twenty-two years later, in 2014, Bruce Wayne was finally released from prison. He was incarcerated during the years that usually sculpt constituents into good citizens; educated, working, and involved. I unequivocally believe that the government controls society by incarcerating those who are perceived as undesirable and by instilling fear in others, hindering the development of a healthy family life. At the start of the 1970s, incarceration appeared to be a practice in decline. Criticized for its overuse and detrimental effects, practitioners and reformers looked to community-based alternatives as a more promising strategy for managing criminal offenders. The conditions in which prisoners live are the poorest possible preparation for their successful reentry into society, and often reinforce in them a pattern of manipulation or destructiveness.
